Product
WAPT is a load, stress and performance testing tool for web sites and applications with web interfaces. The product is designed to produce the maximum possible load on the web site under examination. At the same time it uses various techniques to make this load as similar as possible to the activity of real users browsing the web site in real life. This approach guarantees that if the tests are passed, the web site will show same performance characteristics in everyday usage.
Real users of your web site can behave differently. They browse different areas of the site, have different connection speeds, cookie settings and many other variations. Separate profiles can be created for each type of user where you can specify these parameters. You can also specify web pages visited by certain types of users. To do this you simply browse through these pages in Internet Explorer whilst WAPT records your actions. You can create as many profiles as you need.
For each test you specify how many users WAPT should emulate. For example, if you are planning a marketing campaign and expect a significant amount of additional site visitors above average, you may create an additional profile for a typical visitor brought to the site by the campaign, and specify the projected number of extra visitors. Now you can add this profile to your base scenario and examine how the additional load will affect the performance of your site.
WAPT can emulate users coming from different IP addresses, provided that you run it on a system with many IP addresses available. Each virtual user can authorize on the server using an individual name and password. All regular authentication techniques are supported.
The overall maximum load created by WAPT on a web site can be measured by the number of concurrent virtual users accessing the site simultaneously. WAPT is able to create up to several thousands virtual users for the test. However this number significantly depends on your test profiles, network bandwidth, hardware and the operating system used on the computer where you run WAPT.
WAPT
displays test results in the form of descriptive graphs and reports with various levels of detail. Using summary reports you can easily see if the test revealed any performance problems. You may then access more detailed reports to see the performance of particular pages and user profiles. This will help you identify the problem and make a proper correction to enhance the performance of your web site.
You can test web sites running under any OS, including all Unix and Windows platforms, and web applications using the most popular technologies such as ASP, JSP, PHP, CGI, Java, etc. WAPT fully supports HTTPS/SSL web sites. You can also test multilingual sites using different language encoding options.
WAPT can be easily integrated into your development environment. It stores test scenarios and profiles in universal XML format, so they can be modified by third party software. In addition to the regular Windows interface WAPT is able to execute basic operations using command line.
